Classical Yoga is an ancient Indian tradition
based on movement, breathing and developing awareness of the mind.
Yoga is not about the body or the mind but a method to synthesize
the two. Yoga invites us to harmonize our body, breath and mind
as a way to experience wakefulness and
compassion in our daily lives. Yoga's language is that of
self-awareness, both physical and mental and how to listen to it,
move with it and be with it. In Yoga we meet ourselves. Beginning
with the exploration of the breath, putting our attention on the
breath and just being aware. As we focus on the breath there is
an increase of well-being and clarity
of mind. |
When we step on to our mats, we listen to our bodies
with full attention. From that space of clarity we move into the practice.
The body responds by breathing and giving into gravity. We do not
impose on the body, but rather listen to it. Practice creates the
possibility for more and more stillness. That stillness is our natural
state, Yoga is the pathway to guide us to see, think and act from this
place of clarity.
"Yoga is a living journey of the wonder
of the body and the life force within us." |
